Update #3

Dear friends, as many of you know, I'm a very passionate organizer with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association and I love what I've been doing for the last TWENTY YEARS since I first got involved as a parent mentor.
For my 20th Organizing Anniversary, I decided to RUN for the FIRST time ever a 5K to support LSNA's education work and to support my personal goals to love myself and take care of myself. I need to be healthy so I can be a chingona organizer for the next 20 years! Watch out, world!

I made this decision because I know that YOU WILL DONATE to this cause. Every dollar counts, please donate here and make me feel that I can RUN for the next 20 years!

Update #2

Meet our runner representing the education team!

As an immigrant from Nigeria, Iyabo Anifowoshe has always been interested in immigration issues. As a former teacher, she has also been able to develop her passion about education through LSNA to get the best possible tools for children to succeed. Iyabo says she felt empowered since she joined the Parent Mentor team five years ago and now, as an employee of LSNA. Unlike other runners who have minutes and seconds on their minds for the Bucktown 5K, Iyabo has another big number on her radar, a total of $500 hopefully collected by herself. She adds that by participating in the race, she will “put LSNA out there and let people know about all the programs and the great job we are doing.

Update #1

Meet our runner: Norma Rios-Sierra

After the recent elections, Norma Ríos-Sierra felt she and other people were not welcome in this country. With LSNA, she was able to express her feelings and go “through a healing experience.” As a mother of a first grader, she also feels that schools’ resources have being gradually taken away and need to be restored. “I want to raise more awareness among people and raise their voices against the injustice in the school system,” says Norma, who expects to raise some money in the Bucktown 5K for the Education Team and is already planning on using a special weapon for it: “I’m gonna get really loud on Facebook and tell them to support me.”
